Number one is the flow of traffic into your site or blog. The more people that visit your website, the more opportunities you have to cash in on their visits. Second, you’ll want to optimize your advertising so that you can maximize your blog revenue. While it may not be particularly helpful for the first part of this equation, YieldBuild has been designed specifically to work on that second aspect.

In this respect, I’ll take a look at how YieldBuild aims to maximize the amount of money you are currently making from your website and attempt to determine if YieldBuild is worth your while.

Optimized Income from Multiple Networks

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. That’s why it’s so important to have a good mix of different advertising models on your website. If all you do is rely on Google AdSense, you’re leaving a lot of money on the table. However, in going through the different ad networks and all the different kinds of ads that they offer, it can take you a very long time and a lot of experimentation to find out exactly which combination generates the most amount of money.

Is it more appropriate to run AdSense inside each post and CPM ads in the sidebar? Or will you make more money if you go with an AdSense leaderboard at the top of the page and Tribal Fusion at the end of each post? What about color combinations? There are so many variables to consider that it would take a human being a literal eternity to find just the right combination. That’s where an automated solution like YieldBuild would come into play.

At this time, YieldBuild only works with the above ad networks, but support for other networks is reportedly on the way. By installing the YieldBuild code on your website or blog, the YieldBuild system will run through a series of “trial and error” sessions so that it can see which placements generate the most amount of money. Previous systems literally required hundreds of thousands of page impressions before any usable data was generated, but YieldBuild says that it can create some real results with a mere fraction of that.

Tweaking Ad Zones and Layout Styles

Not surprisingly, you’ll need to provide YieldBuild with private information regarding your various ad networks. Yes, this involves giving them your AdSense login name and password.

It’s natural to feel a little hesitant about doing this, because there really is no saying what they can do with that kind of information. Assuming that YieldBuild is not an elaborate phishing scam, it only makes sense that it would require this information to deploy all the different kinds of ad combinations. Without this ability to tweak, adjust, and alter the generated ad creatives, the YieldBuild monetization platform simply would not be able to function.

The setup process with YieldBuild involves the designation of numerous ad zones. These are areas where you can display advertising on your site, but where advertising may not necessarily appear. Going further, YieldBuild can not only determine the optimal ad network for each zone; it can also determine the right kind of ad creative from that network to be used in that zone.

Google AdSense is perhaps the simplest example of this. In AdSense, you can adjust the colors used, the style of the border, and other modifications. YieldBuild will go through several of these iterations to determine which ad format is the most profitable.

How Does YieldBuild Get Paid?

Looking at the YieldBuild Monetization Platform, it sounds like it could have a lot of promise. Having an automated system determine the ideal ad combination sounds a lot more appealing than suffering through the frustration of trying to figure it out yourself. I can’t say for certain, but the YieldBuild team says that revenue increases of 100% or more are not out of the question. You’ll also notice that there is no huge price tag associated to this platform.

How, then, does YieldBuild make money? There is no setup fee and there is no monthly subscription. While YieldBuild is absolutely free to use for the first 30 days, the FAQ says that YieldBuild will take 3% of your ad impressions after that. Assuming that you can gain at least a 3% increase in ad revenue, this sounds like it could be a worthwhile proposition.

CLICK HERE TO APPLY FOR YIELDBUILD BETA

<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;

We all know that the Internet is a cool place to hang with friends and check out new things. But don't forget about the Internet's risks and dangers. If you're going to use the Web, do it safely! Here are some suggestions on what you should and shouldn't be doing online to help protect you against the bad stuff.

Be careful online.

Never reveal personally - identifiable information online.

A lot of creeps use the Internet to take advantage of other people, especially kids and teens. Never reveal any personally-identifiable information online, whether it's on your profile page or in a blog, chatroom, instant messenger chat or email.

Always use a screen name instead of your real name.

Never give out your address, telephone number, hangout spots or links to other websites or pages where this information is available.

Be careful about sending pictures to people you do not know very well.

Never tell people personal or private information about your friends or family.

Never assume you're completely anonymous online. Even if you don't put personal information online, there are different ways that people can still figure out who you are and where you live.

Never share your password with other people (except for your parents).

Your passwords to websites, email accounts and instant messenger services should not be shared with friends or strangers. Your friends may not be as safe as you are and may unknowingly subject you to danger. You should, however, share your passwords with your parents if they ask so they can make sure you're using the Internet safely.

Never arrange meetings with strangers.

Just because you've seen a person's picture and read his or her profile, does not mean you know them. Many people online lie about who they are and what their intentions are. Just because someone seems nice online, does not mean they really are. They could be trying to hurt you. Never arrange a meeting with a stranger you've met online. Even meeting a stranger in a crowded place could be dangerous as he could follow you home. If you wish to meet an online friend in person, talk to your parents and arrange a time and place where your friend can meet your parents first, just in case. If you are worried about your parents meeting one of your online friends, you probably shouldn't be friends with them in the first place.

Don't believe everything you read or see online.

Be wary of everything you see online unless it is from a trusted source. People lie about their age, who they are, what they look like, where they live, how they know you and what their interests are. Also, a lot of websites and emails contain information that is misleading or just plain untrue. If a person or deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Ask your parents to help you figure out what information is really true.

Don't download files or software without your parents' permission.

There are a lot of files on the Internet that are unsafe to download to a computer. Some files will bombard you with pop-up ads all day long. Some files will actually track everything you and your family does on your computer, including your logins, passwords and credit card information, which criminals then use to steal money from you and do other harm. There is no easy way to tell which files are bad and which are ok to download. That free desktop wallpaper you want to download might also steal your parents' credit card information. Ask your parents before you download any files or software from the Internet.

Don't respond to inappropriate messages or emails.

Some people send inappropriate messages just to see if you will respond. If you do, you are simply encouraging them to send more inappropriate material to you. Don't respond to inappropriate messages. Instead, talk to your parents about how to report them to the right place.

Don't post inappropriate content.

If you post information about tennis, you will attract people who are interested in tennis. If you post inappropriate content or pictures, you will attract people who have inappropriate interests. If you post jokes, photos or other content that contain sexual references you will probably attract people who are only interested in talking about sex. Be mindful of what you are communicating to the rest of the online world through the content you put onto the Internet.

Be leery of personal questions from strangers.

People you don't know who ask personal questions are often up to no good. Don't continue communicating with strangers who ask you personal questions. Talk to your parents about how to block them from communicating with you and report them to the right place.

Don't be bullied into fights.

People tend to say things online that they would never say in person. Some people even say rude and malicious things, sometimes just to see if you will respond. Don't respond to these people. Instead, talk to your parents about how to block them from communicating with you and report them to the right place.

Don't use adult sites.

There are some websites that kids just should not use. Don't use websites that contain adult content or that facilitate communication with older adults. No matter how much you think you know about the Internet, there are some people and places you just aren't ready to deal with. Enjoy websites that are designed for people your own age.

Understand what you put online will be there forever.

Assume that everything you put online--- every email you write, every picture you post, every blog or journal entry you post--- will be accessible on the Internet forever. Many search engines copy Internet pages and save them for viewing even after the pages are no longer online. Think about that before you post anything online. Do you really want pictures or blog entries to be seen 10 years from now?

Understand online risks.

Talk to your parents about what you do online.

Even though you may know more about computers and the Internet than your parents, they understand online risks better than you. Be open with your parents about how you use the Internet. Answer any questions they have honestly and completely. Talk with your parents about the websites you visit. Tell them about the people you meet online. Tell them what you know about online safety and how you make sure you stay safe while using the Internet. Listen to your parents' concerns. They're only trying to make sure you're safe.

Teach your parents about computers and the Internet.

It is natural to fear the unknown. You've grown up using computers and the Internet. Your parents probably didn't. You probably know a whole lot more about computers and the Internet than your parents. Teach your parents what you know. This is your chance to show them something for a change. If your parents understand how to use computers and the Internet better, they will probably feel more comfortable with you being online.

Follow the Internet use rules your parents and school have established.

If your parents or school establish rules on your Internet use--- the websites you can visit, where you can use the Internet, how long you can be online, etc.--- follow them. They understand online risks better than you and know what you are and aren't ready for online. Don't try to circumvent or disable the safety tools they may have implemented on your home or school computers. Don't try to get around their restrictions by using computers at other locations. If you don't think a particular policy is reasonable, talk to them and explain why. If your parents and/or school trusts that you are adhering to the rules they have implemented, they will probably feel more comfortable in relaxing them.

Visit online safety websites.

Take a look at what the many websites that offer good online safety tips for teens have to say.

Here is a list of some of the popular online safety websites:

BlogSafety.com

ChildrensPartnership.org

Common Sense Media

Child Safety Network

Cyber Angels

Family Tech Talk

FBI

Get Net Wise

InternetSafey.com

iSafe America

Kids Online Resources

Microsoft Security At Home

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

Net Family News

Net Smartz Kids

Safe Kids

Safe Teens

Stay Safe

Stop Cyberbullying

Teen Angels

Web Wise Kids

Wired Kids

Wired Safety

Wired Teens

Wired with Wisdom

Yahooligans! If they overreact, explain to them that you understand online safety is important and that is why you are telling them about your experience. Remember, a crime online is still a crime and law enforcement personnel have sophisticated tools used to investigate online crimes.

In addition to your parents, click here to find additional authorities and groups you should also consider contacting.

PARENT GUIDE TO ONLINE SAFETY

We all know that the Internet can be a fun place and a useful resource for teens. But it is also full of risks and dangers. No one person can ensure teen online safety. However, parents play the biggest role in keeping teens safe online. Parents must be willing to elicit the support and advice of other parents, educators, online safety specialists, and teens themselves to be successful. It takes a village to raise a child. It takes the concerted efforts of all of us, working together, to make sure teens are safe online.

Every parent should have an online safety plan for their teens. Below are some suggestions on how you should go about developing one for you and your teens.

Consider Your Teen's Maturity Level.

Is your teen ready?

Children mature at different rates and have different levels of responsibility. Parents know best whether their children are ready to use the Internet without parental guidance. Parents should consider whether their teen is mature enough to understand the various risks that exist online and whether they are responsible enough to follow the suggested guidelines for online teens. If not, parents must take every effort to make sure their children do not use the Internet without parental guidance.

Prevent access to inappropriate websites.

There are some websites that teens just should not use. Teens should not be allowed to use websites that contain mature content. Similarly, teens should not be allowed to use websites that facilitate communication with older adults. Parents should take efforts to prevent their children from accessing inappropriate websites by using the various parental tools that are available

Teach Your Teen To Be Safe Online.

Visit online safety websites.

Take a look at what the many websites that offer good online safety tips for teens have to say.

Here is a list of some of the popular online safety websites:

BlogSafety.com

ChildrensPartnership.org

Common Sense Media

Child Safety Network

Cyber Angels

Family Tech Talk

FBI

Get Net Wise

InternetSafey.com

iSafe America

Kids Online Resources

Microsoft Security At Home

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

Net Family News

Net Smartz Kids

Safe Kids

Safe Teens

Stay Safe

Stop Cyberbullying

Teen Angels

Web Wise Kids

Wired Kids

Wired Safety

Wired Teens

Wired with Wisdom

Yahooligans! Parents' Guide

Communicate with your teen about online safety.

Online safety begins at home. Parents should teach and continually reinforce to their children the importance of being safe online. Parents should educate their children about the various risks that exist online and teach them how to be safe online.

Make the Internet a family affair.

Use the Internet with your children. Ask them to show you the websites they use. Have them login to their accounts at various websites and instant messenger services. Ask them to teach you about things you don't understand. Point out safety concerns as they arise. Explain to them that you are not trying to invade their privacy, you are just trying to make sure they are being safe online.

Ask your teens what they are doing online.

Many parents express concern because they don't know how their teens are using the Internet but haven't taken the first step in finding out: asking. Parents should ask their children what they are doing online, directly and routinely. Here are some suggested questions to ask to start the conversation:

What are you doing online?

printable version

Where do you access the Internet? At school? At home? At friends' homes? Elsewhere?

How do you access the Internet? Whose computers do you use? Do you use web-enabled mobile phones?

How much time do you spend online? How often do you use the Internet?

With whom do you use the Internet? By yourself? With teachers? Friends? Adults?

For what do you use the Internet? What websites do you visit regularly? What websites have you visited recently? What are your favorite websites?

Do you communicate with people online? Who? Have you met new people online? Who? Have you been contacted by adults online? Who?

Do you have personal web pages? Where?

At what websites do you have accounts? What usernames do you use?

What email addresses do you children use? Do you have any others?

What instant messenger services do you use? What are your screen names? Do you have any others?

Do you ever put personal information online? Pictures? Where? How do you protect this information?

Have you come across inappropriate content online? When? What did you see? Where did you see it? How did you come across it? What did you do when you saw it?

Has anyone communicated with you online in an inappropriate manner? When? What happened? Where did it happen? What did you do?

Do you know how to be safe online? What would you do if they were contacted by a stranger online?

Remember: these questions should only be used as a means to start an ongoing dialogue with your teen about online safety. The goal is to make sure you fully understand how your teen is using the Internet so you can take appropriate measures. No matter what your child says, try not to overreact. Take some time and consider what your children have told you before taking serious action.

Monitor your teen's internet use.

Watch your teens when they're using the Internet.

Put your home computer in an open space.

Check frequently to see what websites your teens are using. (Look at the browser's history and cache of websites if necessary.) If you see your teen close a window as you approach, ask why.

Review email messages your teen has sent and received.

Review active instant messenger conversations.

Look at photos and other files saved on your teen's computer.

Consider parental tools that will allow you to monitor your teen's Internet usage when you're not present.

Explore the websites your teens use. Your teen should not be using websites that allow communication between users that do not have the following minimum safeguards:

Control over who is admitted into your teen's network of friends.

The ability to block certain users from sending messages to your teen.

A means of reporting inappropriate content and users to a user safety department.

The ability to remove content previously posted by your teen.

The ability to completely delete your teen's account.

Keep your passwords secret.

As a parent, you should maintain secure administrator access to each computer in your home and with your Internet service provider. Also, remember that some of the websites you visit may not be appropriate for your children. Be sure to keep your login and passwords secret and change them frequently. This includes access to your email accounts.

Talk to the parents of your teen's friends about Internet use.

Your children may be using the Internet at their friends' homes. Talk with the parents of your teen's friends to understand how they approach online safety. Prohibit your teen from visiting any friend whose parents do not take appropriate measures.

Know school policies regarding Internet use.

Your teens are likely using the Internet at school. Talk openly with teachers and school administrators regarding how they handle online safety. Also, understand how your teen's Internet use at home may affect school policy. Many schools hold teens accountable for their actions online whether done at school or elsewhere.

Establish rules regarding Internet use.

Determine appropriate Internet use guidelines for your child. Communicate and enforce them. (Some parents find actual written Internet use agreements to be helpful.) Make sure the rules you establish are reasonable based on your teen's age and maturity. Assess your teen's compliance with your rules on a regular basis.

Get tech-savvy.

Your teen may know more about computers and the Internet than you do. Don't be intimidated. Read up on the latest technology developments, especially those that teens have embraced. Talk with other parents to learn what they know about the Internet. Ask your kids to teach you what they know about computers and the Internet. Do not underestimate your teen's knowledge of computers.

Know and use available tools.

There is a wide variety of software and tools available to help you keep your teens safe online. Generally, these tools fall under three main categories: (1) tools that block and/or filter inappropriate websites and content; (2) tools that monitor your teen's online activity; and (3) tools that block your teen from posting personal information online.

Check with your Internet service provider (ISP) to determine what Internet safety features it offers. Many ISPs also offer software and tools for parents seeking additional protection for their children.

Click here for a list of popular software and tools for parents seeking to protect their teens online.

Report inappropriate activity.

If you believe your teen has experienced criminal action, do not hesitate to contact your local authorities. A crime online is still a crime and law enforcement personnel have sophisticated tools used to investigate online crimes.

Click here I prefer to use straight forward software and I don't like something complicated.

Here I like to introduce some free Blog Header for download, some I am using for my blog. If anyone have some free stuff, I would appreciate it if you can share with me.

Here they are:

Just choose any design you want for your blog.

So here’s a couple header image sites I’d like to recommend to help you dress up and personalize your blog.

45 Free Beautiful Blog Headers - This is a great list compiled by Smashing Magazine. Some of the headers include the .psd source files so you can really customize the header if you’ve got Photoshop experience.

Free Webpage Headers - A very nice collection of hundreds of 800 x 200 website headers which can easily be used for Blogger. Images are organized by category which makes it much easier to find what you’re looking for.

Dreamstime - This is actually a pay for image site but they have a free images section you can benefit from. Click on the “Free Images” tab once you get to their home page.

stock.xchng - By looking at the name of their site you wouldn’t think it was any good but looks can be deceiving. They’ve got thousands of free images that would work for your blog header or for inserting them into a blog post.

Stock Vault - This free image site is dubbed the stock photo sharing website where designers and photographers can meet to share their images. Decent selection and more targeted towards designers but you might be able to find some goodies for your blog.

FreeFoto - This last one is a bonus since the list was only supposed to be 5. It’s a pretty good site where you can find all sorts of images for your blog header, etc

Happy blogging to everybody! I’d love to hear if you’ve got some other sites our readers might be interested in as well. Also, if you’ve pimped out your blog with a new header image post your link below to share with everyone!

HABIT OF SUCCESSFUL BLOGGERS

I started my serious blogging four months ago, first blog I'm created was in November last year (2007) just for my leisure mainly for uploading of my family photos for memory purposes. I surfed the web looking for some good info on how to improve my Direct Selling business and the link where I can get some good stuff to enhance my music knowledge. I was quite active in forum chatting where I saw few of my online friend weblog and wonder how they can create their weblog. I begun my research and start create
my first blog without anyone else telling me what to do.

Whilst surfing the web I did came across some online business advertisements, never across my mind I'll get involved but I was quite impress with one affiliate program that provide free registration and free url gateway to market the product, no purchase requirement to upgrade but require hardworks effort to success.

However, I never knew that I can earn money from blogging till I received one email from a friend telling me that I can make money from adsense. Just in case you don't know John, he is today one of the most successful blogger receiving an average income of $30,000 (USD) per month (Check out his site http://www.johnchow.com). John said XR.com will be a tinyurl killer and will offer the shortest URLs out of any URL shortening services. XR.com does have an advantage in that its URL is very short to begin with - just two main letters.

What makes XR.com unique is it will be built with the help of its users. New features will be add based on feedback from you. And this was why John sending me this important information. He wants us to try out the service and tell his friend Richard what you like and dislike about it.

A short URL comes in handy for services like Twitter, where you’re limited to 140 characters, and affiliate marketing, where it helps to mask the affiliate link. Affiliate marketers will like XR.com over other services because it has the ability to track clicks.

XR.com Vs. TinyURL

To test if XR.com really does provide the shortest URL in the industry, I tested it using my last miscellaneous rambling post, which has 73 characters in the URL. Here’s the URL created by the two services.

http://xr.com/vdh

http://tinyurl.com/66tzvh

XR.com was able to shorten my URL down to just 10 characters, significantly shorter than the 18 characters it took for tinyurl.com. If you don’t need a super short URL, you can use XR.com to create a custom URL - instead of xr.com/eap, it could be xr.com/misc-ramble.

XR.com is entirely free to use. You don’t have to sign up for an account in order to use it. However, if you do set up an account, you’ll get access to a bunch of added features like click tracking and management of all the URLs you create.

Set up an account, give XR.com a try and let John friend Richard know what you think.

How You Can Make a Career Out of Blogging

Do you have a passion for writing? Do you have lots of spare time on your hands? Whether you are a student, stay-at-home mom, fully employed, part-time or completely unemployed, you will certainly be able to put your personality, ideas and free time to good use… all thanks to the wonderful world of blogging!

While a lot of people have made use of this online phenomenon to rant about their lives or talk about the little things that happened in their day, there are actually people – lots of them – who have been making use of blogging as more of a marketing tool rather than just a way to express themselves. Do you want to find out how you can get in on this cash-earning trend? Here are tips to get you started:

Tip #1: Know Your Passion and Use It!

If you are an avid follower of fashion trends, then the best kind of blog that you can come up with is of course, a fashion blog. When you are going to start a blog, one that you will also be using for work, make sure that you will be able to churn out witty write-ups that will give people the impression that you are highly knowledgeable about the subject (even if this isn’t entirely true). Of course, there would be similar blogs up your alley… but if people will see that you really know your stuff through your creative use of words, then you surely would not have a hard time convincing them that your blog is the one which they should keep coming back to.

Tip #2: Keep Things Fresh

Once you are able to establish a niche market for your blog, the next thing that you should definitely do is to make sure that you will be able to keep your audience’s interest. While you may be good at writing and you are very knowledgeable about the topics that you are discussing in your blog, you should still find a way to keep things fun, exciting, and new. Be mindful that there are a lot of different blogs out there fighting for attention; make sure that you always stay ahead of the pack. I write as the “Net Fool” to keep things a bit off the wall… At any rate, once you have a steady flow of traffic coming in to your blog, that is when the money will start rolling in.

Tip#3: Know The Two Kinds of Blogs

There are actually two kinds of professional blogs out there. Early on in your blogging career, you need to establish which one your blog going to be. First up are the bloggers who are being paid to blog. This is probably best suited for people who are just good at writing, those who have the skill but do not really have any intention of making a career out of it. Bloggers who are being paid to write usually have a set of topics that their clients will pay them to write about. One need not be passionate about it, the important thing is to just do it. The second kind of professional blogger are those who start a blog hoping to attract clients to advertise on their blog – for a fee of course. This kind of blog is fueled more on how passionate the writer is about the topics he/she is writing about. Of course, when one is passionate about something, it just follows that he or she will also be working hard to maintain it and be good at it.

Tip#4: Think of Innovative Money Making Extras

Aside from being paid to blog, another great way to make your blog earn more money is by putting advertisements or affiliate offers on your site. While there are clients who will pay good money just to have their advertisements on a popular site, there are also those commission-based web advertisements where you will get paid depending on how many people click on the ads from your blog.

Tip#5: Offer Special Services

Direct this to clients, be confident about your work and surely more people will get enticed into hiring you for possible blogging jobs. Put your e-mail on your blog just in case there are people who will be interested to ask you to write for them in your blog, it depends on you on how much you want to charge them of course. Keep your network strong and your viewers will stay with you. You can use your network as leverage farther down the road to tap into even more profits as a blogger!

INTRODUCTION TO INTERNET TRAFFIC

IT'S LIKE WATER

Think of what we know about early humans and how they migrated and settled. Water is a basic human need. If early man did not live close to water, then he had to bargain for it from others who transported the water into his area. People who did not live close to water had to have several vessels to store what water they could get their hands on. The consequence was that people who settled far from any river or stream had to spend a great deal of their time and resources trying to obtain and store water -- and they never really had more than just enough to get by. On the other hand, people who settled near a large river or stream could freely dip out all the water they needed in abundance. When it came to water, positioning was everything. Any map will show that large successful settlements are usually close to free flowing water.

Analogies have been made between money and water. It has been suggested that if you position yourself where money freely flows, you will obtain a lot more of it with less effort than if you position yourself in some remote location relative to the "money stream". The analogy to water is equally useful when applied to Internet traffic.

ANALYZING INTERNET TRAFFIC

MARKETING FORCES IN HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

Similar to how the forces of nature and history determined where rivers flow across the earth's surface, the history and forces of the Internet have shaped how Internet traffic flows across the wires and ether. For the most part, people make their initial connection to Cyberspace in one of two fashions: they either dial in from home or work, or they connect through a network at work. In order to do this, they have to have software that creates a TCP/IP socket. To view the World Wide Web, they also need software called an Internet browser. That socket and that browser are the first opportunities for anyone to get their attention in Cyberspace. Some socket software allows for ads to be shown as the Internet connection is established.

Browsers have three features that control Internet traffic. Those three features are "Home Page", "Favorites" or "Bookmarks," and "History." The Home Page is all important. That is the first page you see when you open your browser. You see this page over and over on a daily basis. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) provide their subscribers software which sets the ISP's page as the subscribers' home page and even sets some of their favorites. Even though many subscribers may eventually change their home page, ISPs, by their very nature, have a natural tap into much of the Internet's traffic. ISPs that provide an expansive and encyclopedic digital environment along with their access, such as AOL, really have a tap into the traffic. Software companies that make browsers (and there are really only two players here - Microsoft and Netscape) can have pre-set bookmarks and favorites. Operating systems can control consumers' choices of an ISP by having software built into the operating system. (Sometimes it seems like there is a battle for your attention going on inside your computer when various software packages pop up and ask to be made the "default" software.) The fairness of this type of competition has been the subject of a major antitrust action by the Justice Department against Microsoft.

The History feature of a browser, on the other hand, just makes it more likely that you will return to a page once you have been there before. This, in addition to the other features, makes it more likely that pages with traffic will gain even more traffic.

Other types of software-based online marketing include software that resides on your screen independent of a Web browser and displays ads while you surf. You are paid or otherwise rewarded for the time you spend using this software. An example is AllAdvantage.

THE ROLE OF CONSUMER CHOICE

Once a user gets beyond these built-in features vying for his or her attention, it becomes more a matter of choice. The Internet user can type in a URL and go to Web pages that have come to the user's attention through word of mouth or some other media. From there, the user is likely to follow links to other similar pages. As memories may fail, typing errors may occur and links may be outdated; this process only takes the user so far. The next thing a user looks for on the Web is a way to directly find things of interest to him or her. Search engines fulfill that function and have been the most popular sites on the Web. Yahoo! was the original Web search engine and thus, by mere force of history, has been one of the most popular site on the Web. As a general rule, search engines and the large digital environments of the media companies (such as AOL, Go.com, MSNBC, etc.) maintain the top traffic rankings. Because search engines exist, the choice and interests of the user are a strong factor, dispersing Internet traffic according to demographics. That is, unlike the traditional broadcast media, traffic branches off to different sites according to people's interests.

UNDERSTANDING PEOPLE

Put yourself in the position of the persons you are trying to recruit. Think from their perspective rather than your own. This, of course, is excellent advice! People on the Web are looking for content. They seek information applicable to themselves. To be a successful Internet marketer, you must take time to think about how people use the Internet.

When staring at their Web browser, people have these choices: They can type in a URL that someone told them about, they can read their home page and follow links from it, they can look at a page in their history or in their favorites, they can go to one of the very popular sites and follow links, or they can go to a search engine and follow links or compose a search phrase.

In order to be the target of a link or be listed in a search engine, you must have a Web presence.

TWO IMPORTANT PRINCIPLES FOR YOUR WEB PRESENCE: VALUE AND FLOW

The first principle illuminating how people use the Web is that it takes value for a Website to be "sticky." A 1998 article in Science magazine stated that Web surfers are constantly making a judgment about continuing to visit a Website or exiting the site. Two factors come into play: the value of the current page and the promise of value in future site pages. That is, even if the current page has a low perceived value, if there is an indication that the quality of pages may improve, users will stay on the site for another page or two more. But if there is no value, they will leave the site very quickly. This is why we hear so often that "content is king." When they leave for lack of value, they are never coming back.

The second principle is that there must be a balance between the difficulty of using a Website and the rewards the user obtains from the Website. The term "flow" has been used to describe what occurs when a user loses himself in a Website. Flow occurs when the user becomes so absorbed that time and task temporarily become unimportant. Whatever the user started out to do online gets temporarily forgotten while they enjoy your site. When flow occurs, direction, inhibitions, and caution give way to impulse, and the user is much more likely to join or buy something promoted on the site. The site must be both interesting and easy to navigate for this to occur.

Flow is also a concept that applies to movement from one Website to another. Banners or textual links must be in context and create a smooth transition from one site to another to be effective. Otherwise, the flow is broken and interest is lost.

TRAFFIC BUILDING

Once you have planned a Website that has value and creates flow, you need to direct traffic to your site. The four important goals of traffic building are: 1) obtaining the right domain name, 2) obtaining good publicity, 3) obtaining an effective portal presence, and 4) utilizing and maintaining flow in the placement of your Internet ads. Ads, of course, can be free, exchanged, or paid. All of these will be discussed in detail in future lessons.

CONCLUSION

To be an effective Internet marketer, you need to analyze and understand Internet traffic and, very importantly, you must understand that the "traffic" consists of human beings with feelings and interests and desires. You must understand that they are looking for what they want to find - not what you want them to find. You must understand that they will get there through their methods - not the methods you may prefer for them to use. The old broadcast media methods of controlling attention do not work so well on the Internet. It's a new game. You must use valuable content and ease of use to create flow. You must properly position your site within the flow of Internet traffic. Once you get this right (and you will), you are on the road to becoming a very successful Internet entrepreneur.

CHOOSE YOUR BLOG TOPIC

There’s a lot of advice out there regarding how to choose a topic to blog about. Some will tell you to focus on profitability. Find the niches that people spend money in and that are currently not serviced well by other blogs.

Others will tell you that it doesn’t matter about the money, it’s all about how much you care about the topic. If you focus on passion, things you personally enjoy and know about, creating good content will be easy and your motivation will be strong.

I don't have specific advice on whether either methodology is better. If anything, I suggest you consider both aspects, with a slight emphasis on choosing a topic you care about over the potential to make money from it.

People are very different. Some remain motivated because of the process, not the topic, and these people could run a blog about a topic they don’t really care about because the process of profiting from it keeps them going.

This typifies the mesh in professional blogging between writing for writing’s sake vs. writing for income. It’s not black and white and all you can do is what works for you and you feel comfortable with.

Consistency is such a key component of successful blogging that I advise people to forget about profits for the first few months – even six months if necessary – and focus on giving value. This reasoning suggests you choose a topic that you personally could sit down and write something about every day without reward (that’s a good question to ask yourself – can you write every day on the topic you are considering to blog about?).

On the flip side, you don’t want to blog for 12 months only to earn a few pennies a day. It’s important to, at the very least, consider the type of reader you are attracting, whether they buy things, whether you can sell them things, or find sponsors who would pay to advertise to your readers.

I’m inclined to believe that as long as you have some traffic, you can earn some money, but if you do this strategically and prepare in advance, a little research can help to avoid wasting time. As much as it feels great to build an audience, we are also here to make money, and it won’t feel great if you can’t effectively monetize your audience.

The key is to understand your reader, their motivations, passions and spending habits. If you love the topic you blog about, you are in a much better position to understand your reader because you are part of the same niche. You know what you like, what you buy, and therefore what your readers enjoy and purchase.

If you are a good marketer you don’t have to be a fan of the market to actually understand it, but for most people I suggest you gravitate to topics you enjoy. It will make two key areas of successful blogging – content creation and monetization – that much easier if you have an inherent insight into your topic and audience.

HOW BLOG MAKE MONEY

Print magazines make money by selling advertising. The larger their circulation, the more influence they exert over people, and the demographics of their readers dictate how much money they make.

Blogs are essentially the same. The more traffic (circulation) you have, the type and quality of that traffic (reader demographics) and the influence you have over your audience, determines your profitability.

This is why bloggers are obsessed with building traffic. It really doesn’t matter how you make money – it might be a contextual ad program like Google AdSense, affiliate marketing or direct ad sales – the more raw readers you have, generally, the more money you can make.
Quality of traffic plays an important part too. If you have a strong influence over your readers, when you ask them to do something, such as recommending they buy a product you promote as an affiliate, more of them will do so.

If you break down the process of blog monetization, the following events occur:

1. A person (blogger) creates a web destination point (blog) that people want to visit, possibly on a repeat basis, because of the value it offers. Initially they find the blog by following a link from another blog or website, through a referral from friends or colleagues, or they come across the blog when it appears in the results of a search-engine query.

2. A proportion of that audience is funneled on to other sites that “pay” to buy the traffic.
Payment might be in the form of a per-click fee, a monthly rate, an affiliate commission, or profit on a product or service sale.

The blogger works to attract attention and then sells that attention to advertisers for a fee or uses the attention to profit from their own product and/or service sales.

The key variable here is “attention”. Attention is traffic, influence and the potential to make money from blogging.

So how does a blogger attract attention?

Two Key Ingredients For Attracting Attention

The first part of creating attention (traffic) to a blog, is the age-old advice you will have read over and over again if you study successful blogging:

“Write good content”

So yes, the foundation of a great blog is good content. Where people go wrong is deciding what good content is, given their goals (usually the error is made when determining exactly what the goals are and what strategies will be used to meet the goals) and assuming that just good content is enough.

The other key ingredient is marketing.

Did I mention that all professional bloggers need to have business skills? Yep, that’s right, marketing – the fine art of attracting attention and THE key component for successful business – is a paramount ingredient for successful blogging. It’s through marketing that people find your good content.

I’ll discuss how to market a blog in a moment, but first we have to make sure you avoid the first error I mentioned – not having a strategy in place for producing the right type of good content given your goals.

MAKE MONEY FROM BLOG

http://www.adrianblog.com/

We sometimes wondering and won't believe that others can make money from Internet. When talking about making money program from internet our mind always though that it is Scam! Negative thinking always haunting our mind.

I'm not talking about the investment program like Swiss Cash, MLM, Pyramid Get Rich Quick Scheme or Affiliate marketing. What I'm talking about is how you can make money with just write articles everyday, viewing others blog, make comments on others blog, loading pictures to your blog, make your blog more attractive everyday.

Please do not jump to conclusion, I'm still not finish yet. This is easiest thing to do:

1st step

I rather want to talk about anything straight to the point. First you need to open an email, then you need to create your own blog, add Adsense program to your blog.

What is Adsense?

Google Adsense in short is an advertising partnership between a website owner and google.
All you have to do is sign up with adsense and make a blog about something you know enough about, then you add the adsense program to your blog, which makes google ads appear on you site (like on mine on the right and bottom).

Now how you make money is everytime a person goes on your site you earn a little bit of money and every time somebody clicks on an ad on your site you earn a little more money.
Depending on how popular your website is you will make more money.

<meta equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
